A new month means new goals and habits. For the month of April, I mapped out my goals and habits, with the method I learned through James Clear’s 30 Days to Better Habits Email Course. This month I have taken the templates from the course to map out my own habits which intend to make my goals for the month achievable.

James Clear gives you many different sentences to think about when making goals, which then are used to create atomic habits. These include the formation of a habit, priming your environment, keys to making it a routine, and many more. I took each of my goals for this month and wrote out how the atomic habits will help me reach each one this month.

This is what I will be working for this month.

The goal is to read three books. This goal turns into the goal of becoming a better reader. The habit turns into reading one chapter a day. I will achieve this habit by priming my environment by placing the currently reading book on the gray reading chair in my room. I will make the routine happen each evening by reading a chapter each evening after completing my nightly skincare routine.

The goal is to exercise each day for thirty minutes or more. This goal turns into the goal of becoming an athletic person. I will achieve this habit by priming my environment by placing my gym outfit and gym bag on the bed each morning before leaving for work. This will help make a routine of coming home from work to get ready for the gym. I will also prime my environment by setting a space for an at-home gym set up, in the off chance I can’t make it to the gym itself. To elude the bad habit of watching tv instead of going to the gym, I will replace the bad habit as such. I will only watch an episode of Netflix when walking on the treadmill each day.

The goal is to look my best every day this month. This goal turns into no lazy day outfits all month. I will achieve this habit by priming my environment by placing my intended outfit, accessories, and makeup product out before going to bed each night this month. I will make the routine happen each morning by putting on the outfit, accessories, and makeup as soon as I wake up, leaving any distraction in my room such as my phone.

The goal is to drink my balance drink every day. This goal turns into being someone with healthy habits. I will prime my environment by placing the vitamin bottles on the kitchen counter each night before my nightly routine. I will also place a drink tumbler and my balance power out on the kitchen table before leaving for work each morning. I will make this a successful routine by taking my vitamins while eating breakfast and making a balance drink as soon as I get home in the afternoons.

The goal is to grow my brand and engagement this month. This goal turns into focusing on blogging social sites for growth in following and engagement. To achieve this goal I will have to establish the habit of cutting off my athletic work time at 4 pm when coming home each day. Once home I will turn my focus to blogging till the late evening.

The goal is to take care of myself this month. This goal turns into being the person that takes care of their skin. I will prime my environment by placing skincare products and lotion bottles out before hopping into the shower each night. I will make this a routine by doing my skincare routine each morning and night. While also lotioning my body after completing the nightly skincare routine each night.

The goal is to keep a bullet journal and wellness journal this month. This goal turns into the habit of writing in my bullet journal and wellness journal. I will prime my environment by placing my journaling supplies each morning before eating breakfast. I will make this a routine by journaling in both journals right after a read a chapter each night before bed.

Thanks to James Clear, his book Atomic Habits, and his email course 30 Days to Better Habits my outlook on goals and habits have completely shifted. I’m looking forward to crushing each goal this month with the knowledge I have learned. I recommend reading Atomic Habits and signing up for the email course if you are tired of not reaching your goals and having trouble forming habits that stick for longer than three days. Happy April babes! Crush it!
