Have you ever thought about taking yourself on a “date” for self-care? A Self-Care Date! I got the idea originally from a Youtuber, that’s name I can not remember. Essentially she would take herself on a date. It was a part of her self-care routine each week. Therefore why I am calling it a Self Care Date. She would get her favorite food, stop at her favorite place to shop, and among many others. Today I’m going to set you up with my self-care date guide.
My Self Care Date Guide.
I typically take my self-care dates on Tuesdays or Thursdays. It’s just the perfect time of the week for me to take a step back from work and recharge. Last week on Thursday I took myself on a self-care date to Target, let’s call it my Thursday Target Time! I started by driving to my favorite Target while listening to my favorite playlist. This helps me get in a happy and energized space of mind. The first stop once I arrive is always Starbucks. My drink order changes depending on the day but with summer fast approaching and warm weather I opted for a Raspberry Lemonade. It is essential to always grab a cart! I keep my purse in the child seat and drink in the cupholder. This helps so you are not carrying everything around the store for a long period. Now it’s time for the best part. Walking each section of Target aimlessly. I walk through each section in the order of Bullseyes Corner, Women’s Fashion, Women’s Athletics, Women’s Shoes, Electronics & Books, and lastly the Home Section.

Now I know what you’re thinking “How do you have the self-control to not purchase everything?” My answer would be I don’t. I do put everything I like in my cart while I’m walking each section. Once I’m through with the home section, I find a spot to stand and go through the cart of items. I run through my head each time the following “Do I really need this now?” “Will I wear it?” “Where would I put it?” “How does it look on me?”. Usually, after answering these tough questions I only leave with a minimal number of purchased items. Depending on how much I spend in the many hours at Target, I end the Self Care Date with some food that sounds good at the time. Typically it’s ChickfilA or Raising Caines most of the time. And that is how I do a Self Care Date at Target.

There are so many different ways you could make a self-care date your own. Here are a couple of ideas to get you started!
- Spend the day pampering yourself either out at a salon or even at home after purchasing all the spa day essentials.
- Spend the afternoon at your favorite park reading, journaling, or drawing.
- Go hiking or bicycling at your nearest state or national park trails.
- See a show or movie that you have been dying to see. The matinees are always cheaper than a night’s show.
- Learn something new or take a class/lesson.
I hope this inspires you to try taking yourself on a self-care date! The possibilities are endless and there are no rules. Do whatever makes you happy and recharged. Later babes!
