Twisted Series Book Review

The Twisted Series by Ana Huang is a romance tetralogy following a group of four girls on their wild endeavor of falling in love. The series can be read in order or can be read as a stand-alone in my opinion. One would call the series genre a contemporary romance mixed with adult fiction. Nonetheless, the series had me interested. Many of the books I read in one or two sittings. The book contains a possessive, morally gray alphahole; explicit sexual content, and profanity. But has no cheating or menage, but if you’re looking for a traditionally sweet, loveable hero, this is not the book for you. I recommended it for 18+ that want a new twist on the traditional sappy romance novels.

Book #1 – Twisted Love

Trope – a brother’s best friend/opposites attract romance

Goodreads Description – Alex Volkov is a devil blessed with the face of an angel and cursed with a past he can’t escape. Driven by a tragedy that has haunted him for most of his life, his ruthless pursuits for success and vengeance leave little room for matters of the heart. But when he’s forced to look after his best friend’s sister, he starts to feel something in his chest:

A crack. A melt. A fire that could end his world as he knew it. Ava Chen is a free spirit trapped by nightmares of a childhood she can’t remember. But despite her broken past, she’s never stopped seeing the beauty in the world…including the heart beneath the icy exterior of a man she shouldn’t want. Her brother’s best friend, neighbor, savior, and her downfall. Theirs is a love that was never supposed to happen—but when it does, it unleashes secrets that could destroy them both…and everything they hold dear.

My Thoughts – The characters were all introduced in this first book. Then as each book came about the characters developed in their own story. The main characters that developed in this story are Alex and Ava. The plot kept you on your toes. It’s not your average romance novel. The plot goes along to solve Ava’s memory problems, kidnapping for business, murder, and coverup, all while the two main characters fall madly in love.

Book #2 – Twisted Games

Trope – is a slow to medium burn contemporary royal bodyguard romance

Goodreads Description – Stoic, broody, and arrogant, elite bodyguard Rhys Larsen has two rules: 1) Protect his clients at all costs 2) Do not become emotionally involved. Ever. He has never once been tempted to break those rules…until her. Bridget von Ascheberg. A princess with a stubborn streak that matches his own and a hidden fire that reduces his rules to ash. She’s nothing he expected and everything he never knew he needed. Day by day, inch by inch, she breaks down his defenses until he’s faced with a truth he can no longer deny: he swore an oath to protect her, but all he wants is to ruin her. Take her. Because she’s his.

My Thoughts – Bridget and Rhys made their first appearance in the first book but it was their main story now in book two. The plot is not as exciting as the first book but is still very intriguing. I personally became a cheerleader in the relationship as the book progressed.

We interrupt this message for…

Book #3 – Twisted Hate

Twisted Series Book 3
Twisted Series Special Edition Cover Book 3

Trope – is a steamy enemy with benefits/enemies to lovers’ romance

Goodreads Description – Gorgeous, cocky, and fast on his way to becoming a hotshot doctor, Josh Chen has never met a woman he couldn’t charm—except for Jules f**king Ambrose. The beautiful redhead has been a thorn in his side since they met, but she also consumes his thoughts in a way no woman ever has. When their animosity explodes into one unforgettable night, he proposes a solution that’ll get her out of his system once and for all: an enemies with benefits arrangement with simple rules.

My Thoughts – We are introduced to Jules and Josh in the first book with a minor appearance in the second book. But the third book is focused on them. The plot was interesting but it was kinda boring at the same time. I’m not much of a fan of the trope either so that really brought a downer on the book.

Book #4 – Twisted Lies

Twisted Series Book 4

Trope – is a steamy, medium to slow burn fake dating romance

Goodreads Description – Charming, deadly, and smart enough to hide it, Christian Harper is a monster dressed in the perfectly tailored suits of a gentleman. He has little use for morals and even less use for love, but he can’t deny the strange pull he feels toward the woman living just one floor below him. She’s the object of his darkest desires, the only puzzle he can’t solve. And when the opportunity to get closer to her arises, he breaks his own rules to offer her a deal she can’t refuse. Every monster has its weakness. She’s his.

Sweet, shy, and introverted despite her social media fame, Stella Alonso is a romantic who keeps her heart in a cage. Between her two jobs, she has little time or desire for a relationship. But when a threat from her past drives her into the arms—and house—of the most dangerous man she’s ever met, she’s tempted to let herself feel something for the first time in a long time. Because despite Christian’s cold nature, he makes her feel everything when she’s with him.

My Thoughts – Like all the other characters we get introduced to Christian and Stella in the first book. But Christain makes multiple appearances in book two. While Stella makes multiple appearances in book three. This last book is their love story. The plot is almost as exciting as the first book. With a sly and sneaky business partner, stocker on the loose, and over baring parents still as an adult. This book was not boring at all.
